Har Ki Dun Trek is a part of Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand.

About Basecamp “Sankri”
Sankri is the basecamp of 20+ Himalayan treks. Thus, it always remains busy by the hustle and bustle of trekkers. This small village is truly picturesque because of its idyllic setting and serene aura.
There are quaint wooden houses made of Deodar wood. And, also some hotels and restaurants serving delicious local food. Their specialty is “Red Rice”. So, get to know the villagers and have a glimpse of their lifestyle. It is the best place to explore Himalayan culture and tradition.
From there, get excellent views of lofty Swargarohini and Bandarpoonch! And do not miss their glorifying sunrise and sunset views.
Moreover, the nearest village to Sankri is “Saur”. There is the presence of Someshwar Devta temple. It is highly worshiped by the villagers.
Therefore, the basecamp will leave you admiring its exquisite beauty.

From Har Ki Dun valley grab views of Swargarohini (I) (II) (III) Bandarpoonch, Kalanag and Ruinsara but do not miss the exotic sunset and sunrise views.
Moreover, on Har Ki Dun trek; you get an opportunity to explore the quaint villages and old lifestyle of the villagers. Here, the houses are made in old style and people still wear their traditional clothes made of sheep wool.
An ancient “Duryodhan’s temple” is present in this valley which is highly worshiped by the villagers because they believe that he used to live here. The temple is made in ancient architecture which makes it the main attraction of Osla village.

During winter season, this fascinating valley remains covered in snow and the white sheet of snow makes it look like a magical wide snow-land.
And, In summers, the valley turns totally different and amusing because of meadows, wildflowers and woods blooming in different colors. Therefore, it is the best summer and winter trek.
